You’re terminal!

They are some of the most difficult words to hear from your doctor, “I’m sorry, but you’re terminal.” He tells you that your cancer is completely genetic – it was passed to you through your father’s family. You tell the doctor that nobody in your father’s family has died from cancer. The doctor explains that it was passed down to you from your first father, Adam, who disobeyed God and was stricken with a cancer called sin and death. In fact, every person that has ever lived after Adam has died from this very same cancer! The news causes a pain in your stomach like you’ve never known and you plead with the doctor for a cure.

News of a cure

The doctor tells you that there is a cure, but the only way to kill the cancer is to transfer it to someone else through a cancer substitute. He explains that Jesus, the Son of God, is the perfect cancer substitute who takes our sin and death by dying on the cross. So in one death, Jesus, who himself was free from this disease, heals those who are stricken by taking their cancer upon himself. The question is how do we apply the treatment?

Applying the treatment

Your doctor says that this cancer is beyond his capabilities to treat and refers you to the Bible which says that all who call upon Jesus to heal their cancer of sin and death will be saved from the ravages of the disease. Your role is simply to make the plea for healing and trust that Jesus’ death in your place was sufficient and reliable to take away your sin and death. The healing is based solely on the effectiveness of Jesus’ death, your cancer substitute, and not on any treatment you can do for yourself.

The benefits of your healing

Your healing is not just about the cure of a dreadful disease. Since Christ rose from the dead after dying for our cancer, he promises that those who receive his healing will also rise from the dead – receiving a new body which can never decay joined with a spirit which has been made new.

Post-healing mission

All who put their trust in Christ as their cancer substitute will be healed. And nobody who’s been healed from cancer keeps it quiet! But patients can't seek a cure that they've never heard of. That's where the healed ones do what they do best - tell other patients how they can know about the cancer substitute and be healed themselves!

They say of some temporal suffering, “No future bliss can make up for it,” not knowing that Heaven, once attained, will work backwards and turn even that agony into a glory.
